Dune Restaurant awarded 2 AA Rosettes
New accreditation for Newquay restaurant, exclusively for adults.
Dune Restaurant at the Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa in Newquay have been awarded two AA Rosettes becoming one of only two restaurants in Newquay holding the prestigious two Rosette accreditation.
The AA, which has been awarding Rosettes to restaurants since 1956, only awards the prestigious two Rosette accolade to ‘The best local restaurants.’
Overlooking the iconic Fistral Beach, Dune Restaurant is a dining and drinking space created exclusively for adults serving a seasonal-led à la carte menu and five-course tasting menu created by head Chef Daniel Kerr. Kerr and his team’s passion, dedication, skill and knowledge results in a menu and dining experience which reflects the restaurant’s ambience - relaxed and very much rooted in its ocean side location. The menus are a collection of bold flavours and textures that champion the freshest produce available, sourced locally where possible, to bring a collection of food presented simply in a relaxed manner.
On the accreditation Head Chef Daniel Kerr says “Achieving 2 Rosettes, really does mean a lot to me and my team. When I started at the Fistral Beach Hotel in 2019 I started building a new team and said that I would love to take Dune to 2 Rosettes. This achievement really is a credit to the team of chefs we have here and the foodie culture we have managed to build within the kitchen. I couldn't have done it without them! We now look to constantly improve the food offering here at Dune Restaurant.”
Guests can choose from an à la carte menu where dishes include ST IVES BAY MACKEREL, elderflower jelly, cucumber, cured mackerel belly and CORN FED CHICKEN BREAST lyonnaise fondant potato, chicken & tarragon sausage, charred baby gem, chicken jus as well as a five-course tasting menu where FOX HILL FARM LAMB, purple sprouting broccoli, broccoli puree, lamb fat mash, lamb jus and CORNISH CRAB & PRAWN TORTELLINI picked white crab, shellfish bisque, basil is on offer. A drinks pairings option to complete the tasing menu dining experience is also available.
The award-winning restaurant underwent a full refurbishment earlier in the year to echo the hotel’s coastal location, widely reflected in the enhanced interiors. Natural elements we’re brought in to complement the existing wood cladding from Tom Raffield and a nod to the famous surfing culture on the restaurant’s doorstep seeps through, highlighted with a feature wall collective of wooden Dick Pearce Bellyboards. The newly raised flooring throughout the hotel’s dining and drink spaces gives guests an uninterrupted view of the stunning seascapes on offer.
Dune Restaurant is exclusively for adults and is open daily to hotel guests and non-residents serving dinner from 6pm – 9.30pm. À la carte small plates start from £7, large plates from £17 and desserts from £8. Tasting menu £70 per person (additional drinks pairing £40 per person.)
For an extended dining experience, overnight stays are available on the ‘Tasting Menu Break’ from £240 per couple where guests can opt for a one- or two-night stay including the five-course tasting menu, coastal accommodation, two-course breakfast, complimentary membership to adult-only Fistral Spa and 10% off spa treatments.
